Criminology research and teaching has impacts locally, nationally and internationally. The Criminology program undertakes teaching, research and collaborative workshops with international scholars at the Monash University Prato Centre.

Intensive Workshop: Gender, borders, migration & criminology, 12th April 2012
Prof Sharon Pickering, Prof Mary Bosworth (Oxford/Monash) and Dr Marie Segrave have convened an invitation-only workshop on cutting-edge research in the area of gender, borders and migration. Attendees include: Professor Nicholas De Genova (University of London), Dr Olga Jubany (University of Barcelona), Dr Maggy Lee (Hong Kong University), Dr Encarnación Gutiérrez Rodríguez (University of Manchester), Dr Gabriella Sanchez (University of Maryland), Dr Paula Banerjee (Calcutta Research Group & University of Calcutta), Dr Sharon Cowan (University of Edinburgh), Dr Delphine Perrin (European University Institute) and Dr Thomas Ugelvik (University of Osl0).
The Workshop in Prato is followed by a workshop in Oxford on the Punishment of Migration, convened by Prof Mary Bosworth and Prof Katja Franko Aas (University of Olso).
- Research
Prof Sharon Pickering will be based at the Prato Centre from March-May 2012 to undertake research in relation to her Future Fellowship, working also at the University of Bologna (more information at www.borderobservatory.org).
Dr Leanne Weber is a Senior Research Fellow at the European Institute from April to May 2012. She will be based in Florence and spend some time at the Monash Prato Centre, undertaking the international comparative component of the ARC Deportation Project (see www.borderobservatory.org)
Dr Anna Eriksson, ARC DECRA recipience, will take up residence in Prato later in 2012 in order to undertake collaboration with European colleagues on aspects of her comparative research on prisons and punishment in Sweden and Australia.
