Ben Bowling is Professor of Criminology & Criminal Justice and Director of Criminological Studies in the School of Law, King’s College London.

Ben was previously Visiting Assistant Professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York, Senior Research Officer in the Home Office and more recently, lecturer at the Institute of Criminology at Cambridge. Dr Bowling has a BA in Psychology from Manchester Metropolitan University and a PhD from the London School of Economics.

Ben studies crime, criminal justice, policing and community safety. His two recent books Policing the Caribbean (OUP) and Global Policing (Sage) examine the extension of police power beyond the boundaries of the nation state and the practical, political, ethical and legal problems that arise.

His most recent work on fairness, effectiveness and police accountability in the local, national and transnational spheres has been published in the Modern Law Review, Criminal Law Review, Criminology & Criminal Justice and Theoretical Criminology.

Professor Ben Bowling is an International Visiting Scholar in Criminology at Monash University in March 2012.
