We specialise in three particular areas of writing practice and research: Australian writing, including fiction, poetry and creative non-fiction; contemporary writers from around the world; and literary criticism. Our centre provides a research space for the nexus between creative and critical writing, and an interface between critics and practitioners. It also provides a hub for potential writers-in-residence, for visiting Australian and international writers and for critical practices including literary journalism and book reviewing. It also provides a research environment for Australian Research Council Category 2-4 grants as well as for Category 1 funding for research projects relevant to the centre’s foci.
